Kiana Shiroma

Kiana Shiroma, Ph.D. is an associate specialist and has been director of UHM’s Pre-Health/Pre-Law Advising Center since 2014 and interim director of the Student Success Center since 2017. Dr. Shiroma was the recipient of the Outstanding Advisor of the Year Award from the Council of Academic Advisors at UHM in 2013. She was also part of the 2015-16 cohort of the UH President’s Emerging Leaders Program. Her primary research focuses on understanding factors that diverse college student populations draw on to succeed in college. Dr. Shiroma is active in the National Academic Advising Association and the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions by serving on the planning committees for regional and national conferences as well as a reviewer for publications of these associations.
