CTE Teaching Evaluations
The Center for Teaching Excellence provides confidential mid-semester teaching evaluation services to:
- Junior faculty or graduate teaching assistants developing teaching practices
- Senior faculty interested in reexamining and revitalizing teaching practices
- Instructors teaching a course for the first time or revising an established course
- All faculty documenting their teaching professional development for contract renewal, promotion, and tenure dossiers
Evaluation Services
CTE offers the following teaching evaluation options for faculty and instructors:
Classroom Observation
Face-to-Face and Online Synchronous
Availability: Throughout the semester, except February 27 – March 24, 2023
Upon request, a CTE consultant will visit a class session to observe the teaching process and conduct a peer review.
A follow-up session is scheduled with the consultant to discuss the observations and recommendations.

Small Group
Instructional Diagnosis
Face-to-Face and Online Synchronous
Availability: Only February 27 – March 24, 2023
Upon request, a CTE consultant will visit a class or join an online synchronous class for 50-75 minutes. After the instructor hands over the classroom and leaves, the consultant will ask the students the following 3 questions about the class:
- What has helped you learn?
- What has made learning difficult?
- What changes do you recommend?
A follow-up session is scheduled with the CTE consultant to discuss students’ feedback and recommendations.

Paper & Pencil
Evaluations
Face-to-Face and Online Synchronous / Asynchronous
Availability: Throughout the semester, but particularly effective between February 27 –March 24, 2023
CTE will produce evaluation forms for the instructors to distribute in class. Students will individually and anonymously answer the following 3 questions:
- What has helped you learn?
- What has made learning difficult?
- What changes do you recommend?
A follow-up consultation with a CTE consultant is optional.
Online Evaluations
Online evaluations are the same process as the face-to-face P&P assessments, but forms are online (Google Forms) by request.
