Footwear

Please remove your footwear before entering the room. This space is only one of four on campus designed with the floor as potential seating for teaching and learning activities and should be preserved with that in mind.

To avoid creating tripping hazards, please ensure that no footwear is left in doorways or in the middle of hallways, keeping these areas clear.

Security

Dean 104 Culture Lab is code secured, provided to faculty only. Each faculty is responsible to be present in the room when their own students are present and are not to permit entry to any others. Students arriving for the following class may wait in hallway if their faculty has not yet arrived.

Food and Drink

Drinking water is permitted at all times. Food and drink are not permitted on a daily basis. That said, the focus in Dean 104 Culture Lab on courses rooted specifically in cultural knowledge in all disciplines means that the option for food and drink is permitted as an accompaniment to course topics.

All food and drink must be removed and/or disposed of immediately in the main hallway trash bin.

Sink

The sink is available for instructional and cultural activities only. Clean-up is the responsibility of the course instructor and students. If the sink or counter is used, please clean the counter area and remove any food debris left in the sink or drain.

Trash Bins & Cleaning Supplies

Rubbish bins are not present in Dean 104. A trash bin is located outside of the classroom in the main hallway. It is recommended to bring your own cleaning supplies as they may not be provided in the classroom.

Furniture Arrangement

Every seat and table in the space is movable to accommodate a wide range of activities, and students and faculty are encouraged to take advantage of that.

When furniture is moved into unique formations for activities for your class period

It is the responsibility of students and faculty to return the arrangement to their original location for classes that follow.

Two laminated templates are available in the room.

AC vs. Natural Air

This air conditioning system was selected specifically for its energy efficiency, controllability, and low background noise to facilitate improved indoor acoustics and environmental quality. Faculty and students are required to close and lock all windows and door at the end of a class period.

Notice

Dean 104 Culture Lab is designed and reserved strictly for classroom use for semester-long courses. Special events will not be scheduled.
