Engaging Oral Communication Assignments:
Tech Tools, Debates,
and Negotiation
Friday, January 26, 2024
2:00 pm – 3:15 pm
Online Event
To help students cultivate their oral communication (OC) skills, traditional classroom presentations or speeches are often assigned. But there are alternative ways to engage students and improve OC skills. This workshop aims to provide specific examples of engaging OC assignments, including:
- Tech tools (e.g., Flipgrid)
- Simulation/negotiation
- Debate
Three invited presenters from across UH Mānoa will discuss alternative OC assignments, assessment tools, and offer guidance on how to prepare students to succeed and tips for instructors who are interested in using the OC assignment. A Q&A session will follow.
