Hawaiki Rising: Hōkūle‘a, Nainoa Thompson, and the Hawaiian Renaissance

This is the story of Nainoa Thompson and the many others who were involved in the Hōkūleʻa’s journey to retrace ancient voyaging routes of their ancestral navigators who sailed from Tahiti to Hawaiʻi. The Hōkūleʻa is a replica of a traditional double-hull Polynesian voyaging canoe and an integral part of the revival of Hawaiian indigenous culture.
