An Introduction to Here-or-There Instruction: Issues and Strategies

Thursday, June 3, 2021
1:00 pm–2:30 pm
Online Event

Join this session to learn about “Here-or-There” (HOT) instruction. The HOT course format allows students a choice between registering for in-person or online attendance. During class time, students join either online or in-person and the instructor interacts with both audiences simultaneously. The session will cover tools and tips as well as common issues and strategies for effectively engaging both student audiences in real time. We will also be joined by experienced instructors who will describe affordances for students as well as best practices in meeting the teaching challenges.

For a preview on blending in-person and online student audiences at UH, review this video in which Assistant Professor Katie Landgraf describes her experiences teaching in the HOT format.
